Why Midwifery care?

Midwives are Licensed Primary Care Providers

Registered Midwives are autonomous, government-regulated health care providers who deliver complete and comprehensive health services to families during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum.

We are funded through Medical Service Plan, just like doctors and specialists. You don’t need a referral in order to book in with us. You have your choice of birth setting: hospital or home.

What sets Midwifery apart is our philosophy that you are the best decision-maker for your pregnancy. We let you guide our care based on informed choice discussions, in which we provide you with up-to-date, evidence-based research and practice standards. We believe that people who are empowered to make decisions in their health care tend to have better outcomes and more satisfaction with their experience.

Registered Midwives go through rigorous training and licensing in order to guarantee that your care is based on current research and professional standards of practice. We are an integral part of the BC health care system. We work alongside General Practitioners, Obstetricians, Registered Nurses, Doulas, Pediatricians, Psychiatrists, Lactation Consultants and many more professionals in order to optimize our care.

We also believe in the fundamental art of midwifery care, blending the importance of connecting on emotional and personal levels while at the same time delivering high-quality health care in the setting of your choice.

We serve families along the Sunshine Coast, from Langdale, Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Sechelt, Halfmoon Bay, Madiera Park and beyond.
